This is an instrumental album made up of 12 tracks of tunes and tune sets from the Folk and Classical world alongside original compositions by David. The guitar used in the recording is one he made while studying to become a luthier.

A lot of the tunes and sets relate to the landscape and natural world, particularly the high and the low places, so 'Contours' seemed appropriate as a title to bring this collection altogether.

The contours on the album cover are a map David drew linked to his tune 'Mountain Scramble' - this shows Helvellyn (3rd highest mountain in England) with Red Tarn at the base plus Swirral Edge (which he has walked along on the way up the mountain)and Striding Edge.
